Not many architecture and/or engineering firms have a blog. I ask myself “why” quite frequently, but also understand these firms are treading to stay above water in the economy. However, a blog can actually help you cut costs.
Advertising can be costly. Blogging can be costly, but from a time standpoint. With sites such as wordpress, you can host a blog for virtually nothing (or nothing, if you do not mind an occasional ad on your blog). Divide the blogging responsibilities within your staff. If your staff numbers 15, ask each of them to write once a week and post on the blog. I have heard of firms who were able to cut almost $10K per month in marketing and advertising by hosting their own blog.
Posts can include a new HVAC system available, design for a new hi-rise, an AIA award received, ect.
